Doing business with tax accounting offices in Japan

Tax accountancy in Japan is a regulated profession under the Certified Public Tax Accountant Act, so offices are careful about tools that touch client data. Expect questions about data storage location and Japanese-language support. A Japanese-speaking first call works far better than an English email.

Avoid mid-February to mid-March, when individual income tax returns are filed, and May, when many companies with March year-ends file corporate returns. June to November is usually the best window.
